Dried Green Peas Masala with Paneer

This is a very simple curry, which is made using dried green peas. Adding  paneer into this curry makes it more delicious. Its goes perfect as a side dish with roti or paratha.

Ingredients :

  • Dry green peas – 1 cup
  • Potato – 1 medium (dice)
  • Paneer – 150 gm
  • Onion – 1 (chopped)
  • Tomato – 1 (chopped)
  • Giner garlic paste – 1 tsp
  • Green chili – 2
  • Bay leaves – 1
  • Dry red chili – 1
  • Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
  • Red chili powder – 1 tsp
  • Cumin powder – 1 tbsp
  • Garam masala powder – 1 tsp
  • Coriander leaves – a few
  • Salt as per taste
  • Oil for cooking

Procedure :

1. Soak the green peas 6 to 8 hours or overnight. Then pressure cook them adding salt and water. Cook it using 1 whistle or till soft. Keep them aside and do not discard the water.

2.  Now heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan. Fry the paneer cubes first and keep them aside. In the same way fry the dice potatoes also and take it out.

3. Again add the little oil for masala. First add the cumin seeds, bay leaves and dry red chili. Let it crackle , then add the chopped onion. Cook till it soft.

4. Now add the ginger garlic paster and all the spice powder except garam masala powder. Cook it in a medium flame. Then add the tomatoes, cook till it mushy.

5. Add the fried potatoes and season with salt. Continue to cook. Now add the boil dried peas along with water, mix them up with this masala nicely.

6. Add the fried paneer and the green chili, give it a gentle stir. Now add the garam masala powder.
Mix it again and turn off the gas. Now serve and garnish with coriander leaves.
