Mushur Daler Bora (Red Lentils Fritters)

Mushur daler bora (Red Lentilles Fritters) is a hot favorite in every Bengali household. Daler bora is  a nostalgic and staple food in our childhood days. We use to enjoy this along with dal and bhat (that means  hot rice and light dal). But you can enjoy this fritters as a tea time snack also.
Ingredients :

  • Red lentils – 1 cup
  • Onion chopped – 1/2 cup
  • Green chili – 2 to 3
  • Kalonji seeds – 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Sugar – 1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying

Procedure :

1. Soak 1 cup red lentils for 2 to 3 hours. Then wash the dal nicely and discard all the water completely. Now using a grinder make a paste of it ( preferably a little coarse paste, and don’t use water while grinding)

2. Now take this mixture in a bowl. Mix the above mention ingredients with the lentil paste nicely except oil.

3. Heat oil in a kadai. When it becomes hot, drop a small portion of this mixture. Fry it till golden brown from all the sides. Drain the excess oil in kitchen towel and serve hot.
